Rather than post yet another review, today I though I’d switch things up a little. Here’s a little side-by-side pictorial of two different versions of the Breguet Classique Tourbillon Quantième Perpétuel presented at Baselworld 2014, the 3797 and 3795.
First we have the Ref. 3797, done in a 42mm platinum case and featuring a traditional Breguet guilloché dial with multiple patterns. The second is the Ref. 3795, done in a 42mm rose gold case and featuring a skeletonized version of what is practically the same movement, the cal. 558QP.
While both share the same overall layout and certain details like the blued Breguet hands and applied frosted glass rings for the off-centered hours and minutes dials, one is more legible than the other. A detail that stands out on the rose gold 3795 is the rose gilt edges on the sub-dials.
And although the movements are practically the same, the executions are entirely different. The platinum 3797 is finished and decorated with an original satin-brushed surface engraved with a floral pattern. The skeleton 3795 is not only open worked, but features an engraving pattern on the case back side of the movement. Both versions are finely finished with polished and beveled edges, polished screw heads, though it’s clear that the 3795 requires a lot more time and effort to finish.
