While SIHH 2015 was going on two weeks ago, the unofficial Geneva Watch Week 2015 also took place in the world’s watchmaking capital, where a number of brands of all sizes took the occasion of journalists and retailers being in Geneva for the week to present some of their latest creations.
And although I didn’t get to visit as many of the independent brands and watchmakers as I would have liked, the week was a horological overdose nonetheless.
So in alphabetical order, here are the 10 watches that really stood out for me.
Bovet Amadeo Fleurier BraveHeart: With 6 patents and a power reserve of 22 days (or 528 hours) from just two barrels, there’s a lot more than meets the eye with this reversible Bovet Amadeo.
Breva Génie 03 Speedometer: Can your smart watch do this?
De Bethune DB28GS: a sportier take on a De Bethune staple design.
FP Journe Octa Lune 42mm: You don’t need to reinvent the wheel to come up with a modern classic. Just ask Mr Journe.
Hublot Classic Fusion Aero Moon: Finally a classical complication for the Classic Fusion, with an expected Hublot twist.
Kari Voutilainen GMT-6 “Guilloché”: Need I say more?
MCT Sequential 2 S200 DLC: because a splash of color never hurts when you’ve got a sequential prism display.
Romain Jerome Steampunk Auto: 46mm, slimmer, and no Titanic-DNA.
Speake-Marin Mechanical Art No.2 “Jumping Hours”: This one definitely needs some explaining, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it as it’s a unique piece.
URWERK UR-110 “Eastwood”: A tweed strap and ebony wood bezel on a futuristic watch? Yes please!
Just like my highlights from SIHH, you can look forward to in-depth reviews of all these watches in the coming days and weeks.
